On March 18, 2025, the Department of Agriculture – Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (DA-BFAR) Region 3 officially inaugurated the first Legislated Marine Multi-Species Hatchery in the region. This project, located in Barangay Quinawan, Bagac, aims to strengthen the region’s aquaculture industry.
Powered by solar energy, the hatchery will support the sustainable production of marine species and is expected to provide high-quality fish seed stocks that will benefit local fisherfolk and improve seafood production not only in the province but also throughout the region.
Said project is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to develop the aquaculture industry, ensure food security, and contribute to the sustainable management of marine resources.
Present at the inauguration were Governor Joet Garcia, Vice Governor Cris Garcia, Bagac Vice Mayor Ron Del Rosario, Board Member Popoy Del Rosario, Quinawan Punong Barangay Raymond Laguna, BFAR Assistant Director for Technical Services Isidro Velayo Jr., Office of Senator Cynthia Villar Chief of Staff Atty. Rhaegee Tamaña, BFAR III Regional Director Wilfredo Cruz, BFAR Legislated Hatchery Program Head Emmanuel Asis, DENR John Leo Holongbayan, Bataan OPA Head Engr. Johanna Dizon, SHAREMAX Holdings Inc. President Sheryl Xiaojing Luo, and private sector partner Norberto Chingcuanco.
